Eva Salzman is a world-renowned poet, author, editor, librettist, lecturer and advocate of many causes, critic of many more.

A dual citizen of the UK, she was born and bred in Brooklyn and on Long Island, her formative years influenced by her environmentalist mother, psychologist grandfather and a grandmother whose music-theater legacy passed to her  composer/birdwatcher father, Eric Salzman, and onto her too, accompanied by rhythms of her dance and choreography studies.

After many years luxuriating in girls’ schools, such as Hunter H.S., she inexplicably escaped into the math and science world of  Stuyvesant High School, lucky to be under the tutelage of esteemed writers such as Frank McCourt, Nobel Prize-winning Derek Walcott, Elizabeth Hardwick, Stanley Kunitz, Jorie Graham and C.K. Williams.
